I chose this book to review because Mrs. Strain read it to us in class on 1-15-2013.

In Knuffle Bunny, Trixie goes with her dad to the laundry mat and accidentally leaves her favorite stuffed animal. She attempts to tell her dad all the way home but she does not know how to speak. Trixie's dad believes that she is just being fussy until they arrive home. Trixie's mom immediately notices Knuffle Bunny is missing. The entire family rushes to the laundry mat to find Knuffle Bunny. Trixie is so excited that they found Knuffle Bunny that she shouts her first words.

The illustrations are a combination of hand-drawn colorful ink images placed on sepia toned digital photography. The characters are drawn with bright colors and are very cartoon like. The photos are boxed off with the characters often walking out of them. The contrast in the colors really makes the characters stand out on the page.

This book is appropriate for kindergarten and first grade. Children in these grades can identify with having a favorite stuffed animal or toy. This book can be used for a writing prompt where the students can write about their own favorite stuffed animal or toy. Each student can draw pictures on top of black and white photos in color to show their own story of their favorite stuffed animal or toy. This book can also be used in making predictions. The students can try to predict what Trixie is trying to say or what is going to happen next. This book can educate students in social studies by exposing them to different cultures and cities. This book was awarded with the Caldecott honor.
